Arsen’s story is told by the director of the VIVA Foundation, Tatiana Hovhannisyan. “I’ve already written that our volunteers, Roza and David, are going through a tragedy. Their 8-year-old son has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia. The cost of treatment is around $24,000… Without help, this is simply impossible for one family to carry.
Together, we’ve already helped him.
We were searching for blood donors — and you showed up. Every single day, people are donating blood.
But I want to tell you more about this family…
For 10 years, they have been volunteers of our foundation.
Do you know what happened the day Roza and David — refugees from Artsakh — crossed Lachin?
That very same day, David stood next to us and started helping — carrying boxes, distributing aid… I kept telling him, “David, go rest, go be with your family”… but he didn’t leave. He stayed with us day and night in Goris until we helped the very last person.
After that, he spent months traveling through villages and towns, helping others…
And Roza… when they finally reached Yerevan, she didn’t stay with her own pain — she started distributing meals to those in need.
I’m writing this and crying. Deleting and writing again. They are truly good people. And they deserve for everything to be okay. Because only together we pull each other out of this endless chaos. Only ordinary people reach out a hand to one another.
