Arevik Balayan

Sometimes it feels like we no longer know how to address you, what words to use when asking. Because behind every one of our appeals lies real pain and a human destiny

Friends, we are facing another very difficult challenge. Sometimes it feels like we no longer know how to address you, what words to use when asking — because behind each of our appeals lies real pain and the destiny of a person.

The current fundraiser for Arevik Balayan, a teacher from Artsakh and mother of four children, has stalled… For several days now, there have been no new donations. Yet Arevik’s story is far from easy.

Two of her sons are soldiers. One of them is a Battle Cross recipient. These young men stood up for us and continue to defend our borders even today…Arevik has cancer. She has undergone extremely difficult treatment, including a bone marrow transplant. The family did everything possible: sold what they had, took loans. But stopping now would mean losing everything already achieved — and there are results!! That’s the most important thing! That’s why this fundraiser is more than necessary.

One of her officer sons came to the foundation’s office… “I told him that I can’t imagine how we can raise such an amount,” says Tatyana Oganesyan, head of the VIVA Foundation. “It’s not a small child whose treatment people are more willing to support — everyone wants to help children! Here it’s an adult woman.”

We still need to raise 5 million drams. Please, do not remain indifferent — support, tell your friends about this fundraiser, share this post. Every word, every donation is our gratitude to a mother who raised sons that have dedicated their entire lives to serving the Homeland.

Attention!

In the life of the foundation, there are different moments: most often, we rejoice at the successes of our beneficiaries, helping them regain their health. But there are also stories when illness wins. Unfortunately, Arevik could not be saved — the disease proved stronger. We express our condolences to Arevik’s family and friends and mourn together with them.

Within the framework of the fundraiser for Arevik’s treatment, 8,028,000 drams were collected. They were used to cover 4 courses of chemotherapy. The unused funds (468,000 drams) will be directed towards the treatment of another beneficiary currently waiting for help.

You can find the financial report on the expenses for Arevik’s treatment below.
